Bios do not go live automatically. Explicit approval is required before a bio is published, and providers can edit their draft freely. Once approved, both the original AI-generated text and the final approved text are stored for your records, and that information also helps improve future bios.
Updating a provider's structured data in Connect does not automatically change a bio that is already published. The published text stays live until someone generates and approves a new version.
CHECK WITH YOUR LEGAL OR COMPLIANCE TEAM: Whether a bio needs to be labeled as AI-generated for patients is still an evolving area. There is currently no universal requirement to disclose AI involvement, but your organization may have its own policy. Every bio does go through a human review step before publishing, which is a meaningful distinction from fully automated content. New Approval Workflow for AI Bios
AI-generated bio suggestions now go through a review step before they publish to a provider's profile, using the new Approval workflow. The reviewers can approve, reject, or edit the AI-suggested draft before it goes live on the provider's profile.
How reviewers are set up
Reviewers are configured per practice group, not customer-wide. Each practice group can have up to 3 review steps, using named reviewers, a role (like "Clinical Reviewer"), or both.
A suggestion moves through the steps in order; if nobody in a step has approval permission for the field that changed, that step is skipped automatically and the suggestion moves on.
If a provider belongs to more than one configured practice group, a priority order determines whose reviewers apply.
If a provider isn't covered by a review setup
The suggestion still goes to review. It's assigned to everyone with access to the AI Approval Queue, and it publishes as soon as any one of them approves it.
If you already use the standard Approval Workflow
AI bios run through a separate queue from your existing manual approval workflow. Both are clearly labeled so reviewers always know which type of change they're looking at.
One thing to flag: approving an AI-generated bio bypasses the profile lock that's normally in place while a profile has a draft pending, manual changes still follow the usual lock behavior.
