AI Bios: Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions we hear most, grouped by topic.

Data and Generation

Can the AI pull information from social media or our affiliated system's websites?

No. Generation uses structured Connect data plus any outside, professionally-related sources you have explicitly approved, such as Doximity or Healthgrades. The AI does not independently search the web or pull from sites outside your approved list. This keeps every bio traceable to a verified source and reduces the risk of outdated or inaccurate information.

Will the AI ever include inaccurate clinical information?

The AI only includes information supported by the structured data it receives. If your data in Connect or an approved outside source contains an error, such as a misspelled institution or an outdated certification, that error can appear in the bio. We link to the sources used so you can cross-reference results. This is one reason the review step matters, and why we recommend including providers in that process. They are best positioned to catch inaccuracies in their own profile.

Integration and Downstream Systems

Will bios appear in our Connect API responses?

Yes. Once a bio is published in Connect, it is included in API responses for that provider under the same field name it was written to, for example professional_statement or about_the_provider. If you have API customers consuming provider data, they will receive the bio automatically once it is published.

What happens to a bio if we update the provider's structured data in Connect?

Updating structured data does not automatically change a published bio. The published text stays live until a new bio is generated and approved.

Working with Providers

Our providers want bios to sound like they wrote them. Is that possible?

An AI bio is meant to be a strong starting point, not a replacement for a provider's personal voice. The most effective way to add a personal feel is to invite providers to add one sentence of their own during review. Framing the review as "add your touch" rather than "approve this" tends to improve engagement.
